LDAS hold a verity of meetings and events throughout the year. All the details of dates and timings can be found on the PROGRAMME page.
LDAS meet at the Free Church Hall in Letchworth on the last Wednesday of each month, from 1930hrs. The meetings feature an external guest speaker presenting on astronomical topics of interest. Occasionally LDAS hold other meetings featuring presentations or workshops by members of the society. In December, LDAS hold the AGM and run a raffle and quiz.
Members of the LDAS who also have a penchant for photographing the night sky also meet monthly to discuss this specialist activity outside the main meetings.
The society has an observatory to the north of Letchworth. Built entirely by our members, it is a facility to be used for observing sessions for members throughout the year, as well as special events; such as public star parties. These are when LDAS invite the public to come and use these facilities, as well as members.
LDAS often hold public astronomy events in town centres and village fates. It is an opportunity for the society to reach out to the public, and often introduce people to the joys of astronomy.
Committee meetings are held quarterly. Society members are welcome to contact the committee at any time. Any items to be considered at a committee meeting should be raised no later than two weeks before a meeting.
