New Horizons – Spacecraft to Pluto
David Davies
I’m sure you will remember David’s excellent talk on Apollo 13 from last year. He has a new talk looking at the New Horizon’s mission to Pluto from the story of it’s development, launch and arrival at Pluto. Until relatively recently New Horizons was the fastest man-made object (36,350 mph), now easily superseded by the Parker Solar probe as it continues to wind-up around the Sun (430,000 mph).
Most of the society will all know David, an approachable and extremely knowledgeable astro imager who is always very willing to help fellow members advance their knowledge of astronomy.
And after the break - NEAF
Grant will talk about his visit to the 35th annual Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) held on 11–12 April 2026 in New York State. It’s the astronomy event of the year when manufacturers bring their best and latest along.
So a must if you want to know what’s coming.
