LDAS Monthly Meeting – Saturn
Tonight Mike Foulkes, from Airbus in Stevenage, will give a talk about Saturn. This talk will provide an overview of the Saturn system including the planet’s most renowned feature - the rings. It will also describe some of the various storm features that have been recorded in the planet’s upper atmosphere, including those that have produced planet-wide disturbances. Tonights talk will be given by Bruce Sibthorpe. Bruce comments: Debris discs are created by the collision of small proto-planetary bodies, and are therefore an important indicator of planet formation. I will present a brief overview of far infrared astronomy from space and describe how data from these, and future missions, informs our understanding of debris around nearby stars.
