On July 27 there will be a lunar eclipse and it will be visible from the UK. The moon rises at 2050 and the eclipse will already be underway. The time of maximum eclipse is 2120 and the moon will be very low in the southeast; fortunately, the observatory at Standalone Farm has a good view of the eastern horizon. The observatory will be open from 2030 hrs and as well as observing the moon we will be able to observe Jupiter and Saturn too. All this depends on the weather of course!
Come along and witness this wonderful event, it should be quite spectacular, the moon should be a red colour during maximum eclipse. The event is free of charge but donations to the society would be gratefully received.
