One Eclipse, Two Journeys - Greenland and Spain Under the Moon’s Shadow

Piero Cocevar and Nick Ellis of LDAS share their experiences of the total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, observed from Greenland and Spain. Through personal stories and spectacular images, we explore the magic of totality and the challenge of capturing the solar corona.

If you would like to add any of your own eclipse images after Piero and Nick have presented their talks, please let Norman ( n_m_gray@btinternet.com ) know as soon as possible.

And after the break - LDAS Raffle!

We will again be holding our annual LDAS Raffle at the November meeting. Please have a rummage through your cupboards for any good serviceable items you might like to donate to the raffle. As per last year Mike and Tom will be running it. Mike will push out a flyer nearer the time with details. There will of course be one bottle of “Supernova” malt whisky from Norman’s cask up for grabs. The prizes are always really good so don’t miss this once a year opportunity.

Please feel free to e-mail Norman (n_m_gray@btinternet.com) if you would like to speak on any astronomy related talk after the coffee break. I’m currently looking for after the break speakers from 27th Jan 2027 onwards.

The meeting will be held at Standalone Farm and will also be available over Zoom to Members. Please purchase your tickets in advance via MemberMojo to receive the Zoom link.

£2 for Members and £3 for Guests.

Guests can attend two physical meetings in the year before having to pay membership.

Please note the committee have decided to move the physical meetings from Standalone Farm to the Baldock Community Hub, starting the 27th January 2027.
