LDAS Monthly Meeting – Far Infrared Observations of Debris from Space

25 September 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Tonights talk will be given by Bruce Sibthorpe. Bruce comments: Debris discs are created by the collision of small proto-planetary bodies, and are therefore an important indicator of planet formation. I will present a brief overview of far infrared astronomy from space and describe how data from these, and future missions, informs our understanding of debris around nearby stars.

Bruce is a space mission scientist at Airbus in Stevenage who makes sure that the scientific satellite designs will be compatible with various science instrument needs.

There will be a break for refreshments and an astronomy news update.

Members £2, non members £3.
