Jessica Marshall: “The Scientific Justification for the BepiColombo Mission to Mercury”.
Jessica Marshall is an experienced spacecraft systems engineer at Airbus Defense and Space (not Astrium any more – we were rebranded on 1/1/14). She has recent experience on the BepiColombo project (to Mercury) the EarthCare project (earth’s clouds science) and the Solar Orbiter project (sun observatory) all these spacecraft are currently in various stages of assembly. The talk is however about Mercury; what can be discovered about Mercury using state of the art orbiting instruments; what science / astronomy benefits justifies the huge Bepi Colombo price tag. Jessica has personally been to many LDAS lectures in previous years, as a local schoolgirl she boosted her school’s science curriculum with LDAS help.
