September Meeting
Review - Dave Eagle - Basic Observing
An
excellent talk, though not quite what I was expecting. Dave
covered the basics of observing which included a discussion of
how the eye works and the importance of averted vision and
lengthy dark adaptation if you want to study faint objects. He
discussed the various star maps available but limited himself
to material as opposed to electronic ones. After that we were
shown a large number of slides, many taken by Dave himself and
all of them interesting. The audience generally found the talk
useful and some of them said things like " yes, I feel I could
do that". That's good!
