March Meeting review -
Barrie Jones - Understanding The Big Bang
Well I
needn't go into this review in any depth as this was as clear
an explanation that anyone could wish for. I am certain that
no question was unanswered. I personally don't understand why
people cannot follow the current thinking, it is quite simple.
At the beginning there was infinity and depending on the
current infinite size of the universe this infinity was either
all in the same place or all over the place. In this infinity
was an infinite amount of nothing, which was the sum of equal
positive and negative nothings. Then spontaneously (as must be
the case as there was no time) these two nothings separated to
some degree, creating the energy of this universe and probably
the non-energy of another. From then on the infinite universes
expanded either out into nothing or out into itself.
The
work of current theorists is the examination of the current
state of the universe, as seen from here to establish the
starting conditions of the universe and hence to the final
state of the universe. The main tasks are to measure how fast
the expansion is and how much energy is contained in the
Universe (either as energy or as converted into mass).
Presently the measured mass of the Universe is not
particularly massive, about 10% of the predicted requirement
for an expanding point infinity which will eventually slow in
expansion and collapse back, as a heart beat. However, it is
sufficient on a count back in time for and expanding expansive
infinity that will continue spreading like a melting
jelly.
This
was a truly fun talk and provided a perfect demonstration that
the English language is Newtonian. The laws of both apply to
practically all conditions that apply in day to day
experience. But eventually they fail and as Newtonian is a
special condition of General Relativity Theory we need to
leave the English language and work purely with
mathematics.
