Monthly Meeting

25 October 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

£2

Herschel’s Planet by Mike Foulkes.

Tonight’s talk is by Mike Foulkes, a Spacecraft System Engineer at Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage, working on Earth Observation, Navigation and Science Missions, currently in the Solar Orbiter spacecraft prime project team. Mike is also the Director of the BAA Saturn section.

William Herschel was a world renowned astronomer in the 18th century and made his own mirrors for his telescopes. He discovered the planet Uranus in 1781 from his garden in the town of Bath, though it is now thought that other astronomers observed it before then without realising what it was.

Come along tonight and hear more about Herschel’s Planet. Refreshments will be available.

Members £2, non members £3.
